THE newly appointed chairman of the British and International Federation of Festivals, Steven Roberts, will be adjudicating at the third Bowdon Youth Festival.

Steven has supported the Festival since its founding and is determined to remain involved, despite his prestigious appointment.

This year’s Youth Festival promises ever more opportunities for young performers, with expanded classes in speech and drama, and new classes for organ. The deadline for applications is November 30.

The popular event offers an opportunity to perform – in the fields of music, speech and drama - before a supportive audience. Performers receive feedback from professional adjudicators who are specialists in their fields, to help them to develop. As well as honing skills, young people can develop confidence in public performance. Categories range from solo brass, piano, organ, strings and woodwind through singing, solo or in choirs, to drama and poetry.

Susan Sinagola, chairman of Bowdon Festival, said: “The Youth Festival last year attracted a huge number of entries and we have built on this success to present a super event in 2015. There is an eminent panel of adjudicators, including not only Steven but also Stefan Janski,

"Head of opera at the Royal Northern College of Music and Andrew Wilde, international concert pianist. The Festival will offer a range of prizes supported by local individuals and businesses. If you or your business would like to get involved, please contact me via our website.”
