ALMOST 300 Trafford school girls took part in a Roald Dahl Day at Flixton Girls School (FGS).

The school’s annual Dahlicious Day invites pupils from across the county to attend the event, dressed up as their favourite character.

A total of 10 schools were involved, with youngsters joining from St Michael’s Primary School, St Mary’s CE Primary School, Woodhouse Primary School, Urmston Junior School, Gorse Hill Primary School, Moss Park Junior School, Victoria Park Junior School, Kingsway Primary School, Acre Hall and Highfield Primary.

A range of themed lessons took place throughout the day - the children made ice cream, wrote poems and created artwork based on Dahl’s stories.

The FGS performing arts faculty created an aerobics class for the visitors, and Willy Wonka himself crept into the school hall to hide some 'golden tickets' - (cinema vouchers) - or the girls taking part.

Sarah Powell, primary liaison co-ordinator at FGS added: “Roald Dahl is enduringly popular and with so many characters to choose from, the costumes on the day were incredibly varied."
