RECYCLE for Greater Manchester and Trafford Council have joined forces with the metal packaging and recycling industry to launch a new campaign to urge residents to make their ‘metals matter’.

The campaign aims to help people understand what can be recycled and explain what happens to the metals collected, in particular the metal packaging they use at home.

In Trafford, residents use more than 95 million metal food tins, drink cans and empty aerosols every year, and each one is endlessly recyclable.

The ‘make your metals matter’ campaign was developed following research which shows people are not always aware that their used metal packaging will be transformed into new valuable everyday items when collected for recycling.

As part of the campaign, leaflets on how people can boost the area’s recycling rates have started arriving in homes across Trafford last week.

An event was also held at Shaws Road Shopping Centre, Altrincham, on October 13, with the aim of educating resident further.
