YOUNGSTERS at Trafford MV rugby club had a taste of action this week as representatives from the Royal Marines gave them a taste of life with the Green Berets.
The young players were put through an intense physical training session under the guidance of a Marines physical instructor who had the lads pushing themselves hard and working to a different training regime to their usual rugby workouts.
This was followed by a visual presentation to the players which gave an insight into the dedication and application needed to become a Royal Marine.
The players listened as tales of military tours in Afghanistan and Iraq were brought to life by the Marines.
The importance of being prepared for anything was emphasised as examples of training in Arctic wilderness and arid desert terrain were shown to the lads.
The Marines gave an insight into the extreme levels of training and readiness that are needed to be prepared for battle zones at the drop of a hat and Trafford MV hope that this awareness will give their young players an edge when it comes to preparing for matchday.
This is the second year that Trafford MV has worked alongside the Royal Marines in bringing the excellence of the fighting force into the open community.
