ALTRINCHAM’S Homebase shoppers and colleagues were named the most generous in country this month.

Raising nearly £12,000 for Alzheimer’s Society and its sister charities, it was ranked as best fundraising store in its group in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Its partnership with the retailer has already raised a staggering £2 million for dementia sufferers since it began.

Staff have held book sales, raffles, auction seasonal hampers among other events.

Sue Clarke, regional operations manager for the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “As a charity, we really rely on the funds collected by our partners to help us support people with dementia and their carers.”
