FIVE brave bosses from intu Trafford Centre are set to take the plunge this weekend, as they abseil down the 175ft Barton Square campanile in a bid to raise funds for Manchester Dogs’ Home.

Charlotte Brown, community development manager, said: “Our colleagues have been left distraught by the recent tragedy at the dogs’ home, and when we saw how the people of Manchester were rallying round to help, we knew we had to do our bit.

“The regular charity abseils from the tower are famous now, and we’ll be joined on Saturday morning by people abseiling for many other charities including Guide Dogs and the Sibes and Sled Dogs charity. This drop is definitely one for the dogs.

“We wish everyone at Manchester Dogs’ Home, both staff and animals, a healthy and happy future after the terrible events of last month.”

The 175ft campanile – which means bell tower in Italian – dominates Barton Dock Road, and is a major Trafford landmark.

The five senior managers, including general manager Richard Paxton, hope to raise more than £300 to go towards rebuilding the Manchester sanctuary.
