THE Sainsbury's branches at Sale, Altrincham and Urmston raised £1,000 for charity when they organised a Big Bike Ride.

The money will be divided between three good causes Hand on Heart, 1st Timperley Girls Brigade and Once upon a Smile will benefit.

Shoppers at the Sale store found out about Hand on Heart's campaign to get every Trafford Primary School equipped with a lifesaving defibrillator.

There was a cake sale by Longcross, the construction company who are undertaking the refurbishment at the Sale store. There was face painting for the children and 200 balloons were released as the cyclists left the store. The balloons were sponsored by customers and colleagues and the winning balloon was found and tweeted to the store.

The winner will receive a £30 Hamley’s Gift Voucher.

One balloon was actually found on a beach on the Isle of Man.
