SALE voluntary groups fought for their share of funding allocation at a public voting event last week.

The Have Your Say public voting event hosted by Sale Locality Partnership and Thrive Trafford on September 6, challenged 17 shortlisted groups to showcase their projects.

The limited number of groups lucky enough to receive funding on the day, announced by Councillor John Lamb, were: Sale District Scout and Guide Band, Hi Tension Workouts, Friends of Ashton Park, New Way Forward, Trafford Carers Centre, Confidence after Cancer, Sale Arts Trail, Sale West Amateur Boxing Club and Manor Court Social Group.

And Birds of Paradise Arts received an on-the-spot ‘bonus’ donation of £500 from a generous business donor – a welcome grant for one of many cash-strapped groups who missed out, which will mean they can continue their work.

Grateful Jennie Barnes from the Trafford Carer Centre said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Thrive Trafford for putting on such a good event.”
