THE screen husband of one of Coronation Street's most riveting storylines has been speaking about life both on and off the famous cobbles.

Actor Will Travis, who plays Neil, the scorned husband of the soap's Andrea Beckett, has been in hot pursuit of her since he found out about her torrid affair with Lloyd.

He explains: "Basically, I have come back from Nigeria to find that she has been having an affair. She looks like she is going to leave me but I do my level best to get her back by any means possible.

"As the plot has progressed, it has been really interesting that some of the responses I have been getting from TV viewers accuse me of spoiling their lives."

However, while Will, who runs drama classes with Sue McArdle his actress partner in Urmston, believes that despite his role people do tend to give up far too easily on relationships.

"I come from a broken partnership as does my character in the soap where I am the dutiful husband who wants her back. But Neil has turned into a bit of a stalker, However, at the same time, I have sympathy with him for wanting to keep his wife.

"I think in real life people should try harder to stay together and that is an element in the breakdown of modern day society."

Will's appearance in the famous Street is his third role after he made appearance playing different characters as Vince who built a smoking shelter and as a Sgt Major searching for AWOL soldier Gary Windass.

And while filming has now finished, Will is suggesting there will still be a few flies in the ointment over the next couple of months including the involvement of a grown up daughter who returns from university to bat on dad's behalf.

He adds: "There is a dramatic climax to the storyline but one thing I can definitely confirm is that I am not dead and hopefully will live to fight another day."

Will and Sue are currently working on the Dave Simpson inspired Blind Date which is scheduled to be staged at Bolton's Octagon at the end of November before it moves to the London stage in 2015.

The pair hold drama classes at Humphrey Park Community Centre, Humphrey Lane on Saturdays and for more information telephone 07852 126842
