A LOYAL customer helped to officially re-open the Co-operative Food store in Urmston.

Irene Driver who has been shopping at the Ambleside Road store for 43 years, was chosen by staff to cut the ribbon to perform the official opening with store manager, Marion Sidebotham.

The food store has been redesigned around an appreciation of good food, wine and modern cuisine and a new layout which aims to make shopping easier.

Services such as the Post Office, Paypoint and the National Lottery have been retained, and the store’s opening hours remain 7am until 10pm, seven days a week.

Marion said: “I’m excited about welcoming customers into the new-look store, which offers a completely different shopping experience. "The Co-operative is a community retailer, and so we are committed to playing a real role in local life.

"I was delighted to welcome Irene into the store to share in our special day, as a thank you for all her loyal custom over the years.”
