A FORTNIGHT of fundraising has seen money raised for two charities

The first event to get the fundraising underway took place at Co-operative’s store, on Green Lane, which held a fancy dress day, where staff came into work as their favourite superheroes, and put out collecting buckets to raise £660 for St Francis House Children’s Hospice in Manchester.

The following weekend staff and customers donated prizes for a raffle, and they also held a cake stall, to raise £160 for BEAT, which helps adults and young people overcome eating disorders.

Tina Williams, manager of The Co-op store said: “As a community retailer, it is vital we support local organisations and charities. The work of these two charities is so valuable and I am thrilled that we were able to raise some funds, which should benefit so many people in the local community.

“We couldn’t have raised this money without the support of our staff and customers and we want to give a big thanks to everyone that has donated, their support has been fantastic.”
