A LEADING Trafford politician has met with management of an adoption agency in Sale.

Wythenshawe and Sale East Labour MP Mike Kane visited Caritas Care, which provides specialist fostering and adoption services, finding, training and supporting new families for children in care.

Mr Kane was told there had been a significant growth in the numbers of children being taken into care and a demand for additional foster carers

The agency's director of services Amanda Forshaw explained: “Children can be in care for years without a single enquiry from a prospective adopter. That’s particularly true for older children and sibling groups.

“The people of Greater Manchester have been fantastic over the years in creating new homes for children and I hope that more people from the area will follow their example and give more children the future they deserve.”

Mr Kane said: “The passion and dedication of the staff towards their work was self-evident and you could not help but be enthused by what they do. You can’t put a price on it and what they do is vital.”

Caritas Care is keen to hear from more would-be foster carers and adopters and for more information about adoption and the services and support provided visit www.caritascare.org.uk
