WITH just over a week to go until A-level results day, the Exam Results Helpline is getting ready to open its phone lines on Thursday, August 14, at 8am.

For the first time this year, careers advisers will also be available on Twitter and Facebook and are preparing to answer more queries than ever before.

Thousands of people called the helpline last year for advice on a number of topics including re-sits, re-marks, higher education, careers advice, apprenticeship guidance, vocational qualifications and gap years.

The Exam Results Helpline is poised to help again and will be open for 10 days this year to cover both A-level and GCSE results day and can be reached on 0808 100 8000.

Nick Hynes, Exam Results Helpline adviser, said: "Every year, there are students who don’t get the grades they need for university, there are those who achieve better grades than expected and those whose career plans have changed since they made their original university choices.

“At such a critical and life changing time, it’s imperative that these students are clear what ALL of their options are, enabling them to make fully informed decisions about their futures."
