A NEW exhibition is shining the spotlight on the lives and loves of Trafford’s First World War heroes at home and abroad.

It’ll be held at Sale Waterside Arts Centre until Sunday November 9 and is part of the First World War Centenary Commemorations.

Executive member for transformation and resources, Councillor Alex Williams said: “The First World War changed the world and no-one was untouched by its impact.

“This exhibition looks at how the war affected the lives of people from towns and villages that make up Trafford today. Using photographs and memorabilia from out original archives, it will reveal many personal stories.”

Some of the exhibits include an article that appeared in the Altrincham and Bowdon &Hale Guardian on October 2nd, 1914 telling the plight of nurses taken as PoWs and a soldier from Sale who wrote the last letter to his wife the day he was killed.
