A STRETFORD street dance group has been crowned the winner of The Printworks Street Dancer Competition 2014.

Superkidz triumphed over seven other hopeful groups to win the title, following live finals which were held on August 2.

The eight dancers, aged 10 to 15, received the grand prize of £1,000, as well as iPods and a trophy, which were presented to the dancers teens after their 'explosive' final performance at The Printworks.

The judging panel included celebrity choreographer and dancer Kenrick Sandy, who has worked with Madonna, One Direction and Kylie Minogue.

During the final, the crowds were treated to live music from ASPIRIT, a singing duo from Stockport, as well as a special solo performance from Kenrick.

Kenrick said: “The level of talent on the day was hugely impressive and I was wowed by the performances, especially by Superkidz’.”

Christina Taylor, Superkidz choreographer, said: "We are absolutely delighted that our team won the competition this year.

"They worked very hard to prepare and we ensured we took on the judges feedback, which we know will be of great use for the future. Performing in The Printworks and winning has been a massive confidence boost for the children.”

Fred Booth, The Printworks centre director, said: “It has been an exciting competition and we have been exposed to some exceptionally talented dancers from Manchester.

"Superkidz delivered a great standard on Saturday.

"We hope the prize will allow the group to continue their dream.”
