LEADING pet charity Blue Cross is asking pet owners in north Trafford to nominate their favourite veterinary nurse to become Veterinary Nurse of the year 2014.

The charity's award recognises the dedication and support that veterinary nurses offer pet owners. Not only by caring for sick and injured pets but also educating the public about responsible pet ownership and improving pet welfare.

This year the award will be presented at the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Annual Congress which will take place in October.

Caroline Reay, Blue Cross chief veterinary Surgeon said: "Blue Cross has been dedicated to the health and happiness of pets for over 100 years and our award recognises the hard work and commitment of vet nurses across the UK."

* Anyone interested in nominating a veterinary nurse should visit bluecross.org.uk/BVNA2014 or contact Sally Leathem on 01993 825577.

The deadline is September 5.
