A SALE man has been charged with raping two teenage girls.

Greg Smith, 26, has been charged with five counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and a section 39 assault, on two victims.

Further charges have also been brought against him, which are five counts of the possession of indecent images and 12 counts of the possession of pornographic images.

He appear at Trafford Magistrates’ Court on July 26 and has been remanded in custody until August 15.

The offences relate to the rape of a 16-year-old girl in July 2014 and the rape of a 14-year-old girl in February 2014 as well as another unconnected investigation.

Det Insp Debbie Oakes, from GMP’s Protect Team, a specialist unit set up to tackle child sexual exploitation in Manchester and Salford, said: “Greg Smith has been charged with a number of very serious offences and it is important his case can go ahead and be heard fairly and without prejudice.

“Although there are charges in this case, our investigations into these offences are still very much ongoing.

“I would ask anyone who might have information about these or any other matters relevant to the investigation to call us.

“Your call will be treated in absolute confidence and we have dedicated and specially trained detectives on hand to speak to you.”
