AN Urmston Grammar School pupil became National Double Mini Trampoline Champion last weekend.

Dan Lee, 13, competed in the 13-14 years age group at the British Gymnastics National Development Programme 8 Finals, in Telford, and bounced his way to the gold medal with new personal best score.

Dan said: “It was great to win gold. I’m really pleased all my training has paid off this year.

"I’ve been winning gold and silver medals locally and nationally and it’s great to finish as a champion.”

Training at the City of Salford Trampoline Club, Dan competes on both the Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline.

A Double Mini Trampoline looks like two mini trampolines that have been joined in the middle and requires athletic, gymnastic and trampoline skills to complete four different routines of varying difficulty.

Dan’s coach, Steve Wood said: “Dan is a terrific gymnast., he’s brave, works hard and shows real determination to improve.

"His gold medal was well deserved and hopefully he’ll push on to win more in the future.

"We now have a number of national champions in the club.

"We have an exciting future ahead with gymnasts like Dan, his team mates and the younger trampolinists making headway at regional and national level.

"The club has a bright future and we look forward with great anticipation to even more success at national and international level.”
