A TRIAL scheme that is allowing mobility scooter users to get around on the Metrolink tram network is already proving a hit with passengers.
Half way through a six month trial, more than 30 people have already passed a test and picked up a permit to travel with their approved mobility scooters on Metrolink.
The was created and launched by Transport for Greater Manchester in March.
It came in direct response to passenger demand and newly released government guidance that, of over 300 types of scooter available, at least 22 models could be accommodated on public transport.
Mobility scooters have to meet set conditions, including size and turning circle, for safe use in and around the network in order to qualify for the scheme.
