A HALE mum led a five-strong team to finish the Three Peaks challenge, and raised £5,000 for Bowel & Cancer Research along the way.
Ruth Stocks, 48, from Wadham Way, decided to take on the challenge to support her husband Chris, who has bowel cancer.
Calling themselves the Xtra Milers, they covered almost 27 miles and the three famous peaks in less than 10-and-a-half hours.
“It poured with rain the whole day. We hardly had a chance to eat because we didn’t want to open our rucksacks in the downpour,” said Ruth.
“I’m so proud of our team. Of nearly 100 people taking part only around 40 finished."
Anyone who wants to support the team’s fundraising can do so at justgiving.com/SmileyxtraMilers.
