ACCORDING to the road safety charity Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) the number of drivers killed in accidents aged 17-24 has decreased by 10 per cent since 2010.
At the same time the number of 17-24 year old passengers killed in car accidents with a driver aged 17-24 has decreased by 24 per cent.
The difference in the figures is considered to be due to general improvements in safety on our roads, fewer young people passing the test, and ongoing campaigns and enforcement.
However, the figures are still unnacceptable with new drivers far more likely to cause their passengers’ death than any other age group.
