A HALE wine and cookery shop owner is celebrating a bumper crop of awards for her latest vintage.
Muriel Lismonde - who runs Le Vin La Table in Broomfield Hale and splits her life between her home in Cheshire and her family’s vineyard in South West France, has notched up a hat trick of prestigious industry medals for her Tour De Belfort red and white 2013 wines.
Her Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay scooped a gold medal from the Concours General Agricole de Paris 2014. Up against thousands of 2013 vintage entries - the Tour De Belfort successful white was described as ‘citrus nose, floral and delicate, pleasant mouth, floral freshness and pleasure wine."
The same wine also bagged a Gold in the Concours du Syndicat des Vins de Pays du Lot, a regional competition for all wines from the appellation Côte du Lot, whilst the Tour De Belfort Red 2013 Malbec Cabernet France won a Bronze in the same competition.
Muriel said: "I’m absolutely delighted that people seem to enjoy our wines as much as we do.
"When we first started to produce Tour De Belfort five years ago, we were a family following our personal dream and passion - and, in a relatively short time, we have a built a loyal following of wine lovers in England, many of whom come to our shop in Hale.
"It’s amazing to think that we are now winning awards, often in competition with much larger producers."
