SUMMER is festival season and after a successful debut last year, the Flixton Festival is back with a programme of events designed to appeal to all tastes and ages.

Music and dance and live theatre combine in a lively programme designed to showcase what’s happening in north Trafford.

July 12 11.30am-2.00pm Garden Party at St Monica’s School, with folk Singer and flautist Sean Ryan.

7.30pm Up and coming young singer, Alice Gasson sings an exclusive acoustic gig at St Michael's Church, Flixton. Tickets priced £5 (£4 concessions) at the door.

7.30pm Family Ceilidh Dance at St John's Church Hall, Flixton. Tickets £5 adult, £2.50 children, available from St John's Church, Flixton. Refreshments.

July 14 7.00pm, The Flixton Lecture, with Professor Peter Barberis 'Losing the idea of public service?' Can the Church help save the nation or is it part of the problem? At St Michael's Church, Flixton. Free.

July 15 2.00pm Songs from the Shows, Community Sing-a-long, at St Michael’s Church, Flixton. Come and sing some of your favourite songs from the shows with musician Lynda Ukadia. FREE refreshments

• 6.00 pm A Primary Shakespeare Productions Presentation - Macbeth (Year Six St Mary's Primary School).

July 16 7.30pm Urmston Choral Society in Concert at St Michael's Church, Flixton with refreshments. A collection will be taken for Delamere School.
