STUDENTS at Brentwood Sixth Form in Timperley, have been working on a Mencap Inspire Me youth project to further develop and replant their sensory garden.
The scheme has culminated in a garden party with special guests the Mayor and Mayoress of Trafford among those attending.
With the help of Mencap Inspire Me, the students got to work. They grew and planted a wide variety of plants and chainsaw artist Mike Burgess carved a new bench which was funded by Mencap. Students helped to design the bench with a large wooden owl and their school motto ‘Learning for Life’.
The garden party was a huge success. Councillor Ejaz Malik, Mayor of the Borough of Trafford, said: “It is a pleasure to be here today. Brentwood is a fantastic school.”
Debbie John, regional youth co-ordinator for Mencap Inspire Me said: “The students at Brentwood Sixth Form have done an amazing job and have managed every step of the project.”
