LOOSE Change Buskers, the Trafford-based musicians who have raised more than £100,000 for Cancer Research UK ia about honoured by the charity.

They will receive the organisation’s Flame of Hope Award at a special dinner in London and spokesman Bernard Dolan said the news has left the members feeling ‘proud and embrrassed at the same time.’

Bernard said the honour was to recognise the group’s tremendous fundraising efforts and he added: The judges being impressed by us turning out in rain, wind and snow, as the show must always go on, and also our work in entertaining local community groups.”

But he was quick to share the award with the supporters who have helped Loose Change achieve its fundraising success.

Bernard said: “We where all a bit shell shocked when the news came through that we had won the award. It came as a complete surprise, as we had not even been aware that we had been nominated.

“We have to pinch ourselves every morning as it is still hard for us to believe that we got the award. We try not to let this go to our heads, as we know buskers must keep their feet planted on each street corner. We know that none of this could of happened without the support we have had.”

Loose Change will received the award on June 6.
