AN Urmston hair salon has been named as Manchester’s salon of the year.

The Hair Bank, on Station Road, won the ‘Best of Manchester’ category at the English Hair and Beauty Awards, which were held at Manchester’s Mercure Hotel.

The awards, which recognise the best of Manchester’s hairdressing industry across 21 categories, were based on more than 10,000 public votes.

And the Hair Bank had double the reason to celebrate, as one of its stylists, Ria Kulik, was announced as a runner up in the Extensionist of the Year category.

However, this is not the first time Hair Bank staff have made the news, as they were asked to take part in Gok Wan’s Gok Live: Stripping for Summer show, which was filmed at Media City last year.

The team was seen cutting hair live on TV and even tamed some celebrity locks, including those of Corrie’s Sally Lindsay, model Katie Piper and Made in Chelsea star, Cheska Hull.

Owner of The Hairbank, Laura Kulik, said she was delighted to be recognised at the awards.

“We would like to thank everyone for all of your amazing support and good wishes, we were truly overwhelmed,” said Laura.

“It was such an exciting night with the finest of hairdressers and beauticians gathered from all over the country to make it one of the most memorable events in the hairdressing calendar this year.

“So a big thank-you from me and my talented, hard working team.”
