Trafford Labour Group has appointed a new deputy leader.
Cllr Andrew Western, who represents Priory ward, will work alongside labour group leader, Cllr David Acton.
A Labour spokesman said: “Cllr Western is seen as a high-flyer and a highly effective frontbench spokesperson, as the group seeks to build on its gains over the past three elections.
“Cllr Western has masterminded the campaigns in the Broadheath ward that have led to Labour winning all three seats from the Conservatives and on the cusp of taking the council into no overall control.”
Cllr Western said: "I'm honoured to have the support of my colleagues.
“I look forward to working closely with Cllr Acton and the rest of the Labour group to hold the Tories to account and fight for the best possible services for Trafford residents.”
