A BREAST cancer survivor from Altrincham is set to take on a mammoth trek over the Alps, to raise vital cash for charity.
Dawn Comber, her husband, Ian, and nine-year-old son, Michael, will undertake the mammoth task in aid of Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention.
The 180km-challenge will see the family walk from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland, in less than three weeks this August.
And Dawn, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, is hoping to raise as much cash as possible for the organisation, which is based at Wythenshawe Hospital.
She said: “It was only after I was diagnosed at the Nightingale Centre a few years ago, that I realised that all the work and research into this terrible disease was right on my doorstep.
“I didn't know what an amazing place the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention and Nightingale Centre were until I needed them myself.
“As soon as I was well enough, I decided I wanted to give something back to make sure that they were able to carry on their fantastic work.
“But after completing Race for Life and the Santa Run, I thought I needed to up my game a bit, so my husband gave me the idea of the Haute Route – we’re determined to help to create a breast cancer free future for the next generation.”
