TRAFFORD Council is continuing its preparations for this year's Armed Forces Day, which is taking place on June 28.

A family fun day will take place at the Larkhill Centre, in Timperley, between 11am and 4pm, to celebrate the contribution and sacrifices made by the armed forces.

The event also aims to reinforce the council’s wider work and commitment to Trafford’s Armed Forces Community Covenant, a voluntary statement of mutual support between a civilian community and its local armed forces community.

Trafford Council's corporate director, Wendy Marston, said: "We all acknowledge the huge impact the efforts of our armed forces have on us.

“During peacetime and in war zones, their dedication and commitment never waivers.

“We all owe a great debt of gratitude to our armed forces and I would encourage as many people as possible to put June 28 in their diary to come along and join in the fun and celebrations.”
