IN warm weather, not ideal for running 10k, Trafford Council's determined team of 21 took to the streets as part of the Great Manchester Run's 'Business Challenge'.

Comprising regular runners, together with several with little or no previous experience, the team showed great focus and commitment to their cause - raising money for The Christie Hospital - with all 21 completing the course, some with personal best times.

There is also further cause for celebration, as the team have so far raised more than £2,000 - and people can still donate.

Team member and Trafford Council chief executive Theresa Grant said: "I can't deny there was some apprehension at the starting line, but the huge support and encouragement from the spectators who lined the entire route and from other participants was unbelievable. I am extremely proud of the whole team and what they achieved."
