Coronation Street, which is based at Trafford Quays, has won the BAFTA TV award for Best Soap and Continuing Drama, beating off competition from Eastenders, Casualty and Holby City.
Julie Hesmondhalgh, who played Hayley Cropper in the soap, was reunited with David Neilson (Roy) at the event, along with other stars from the show including Kate Ford, Jane Danson and Samia Ghadie.
Earlier in the day, Julie had taken part in the Great Manchester Run before heading to London.
She tweeted: "I believe they call this look BAFTA-ready! Well done everyone who ran the Manc 10k today."
Other big winners included Julie Walters who was given the Bafta Fellowship and told the audience her mother had said becoming an actress would see her end up in the gutter.
She said: "She was right, but what a gutter! And I shared that gutter with some of the most amazing and talented people."
The awards, formally known as the Arqiva British Academy Television Awards, were hosted by Graham Norton at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London's West End.
