MANCHESTER Airport has awarded money to eight Trafford community group in its latest round of Community Trust Fund grants.


The fund is a pot of cash partly generated from fines levied at aircraft that have breached the airport’s stringent noise limits.


More than 20 groups and not-for-profit organisations in close proximity to the airport will benefit from the grants, which total in the region of £45,000.
A £1000 donation has been made to the Friends of King George V Pool @ Environs, Altrincham toward new fish stock.


The Friends of Stamford Park has received £1,740 for some new picnic area tables and the Altrincham Community Team gains £2,500 to spend on a new hanging-basket scheme for town centre.


St Lawrence’s Gaelic Football Club, in Stretford, is to collect £1,500 towards training equipment and Manor High School, in Sale, has been given £1,364 to help fund a pod bike scheme, while the Timperley Parish Room and Club is to receive £1,500 towards a new shelter.


Hale Barn’s Friends of Halecroft Parkis to receive £1,115 towards improving drainage in the sunken garden, whilst £2,167 is trumpeting its way to the Flixton Band group to help pay for new brass instruments.

“Our latest round of grants will see another 24 groups, which all provide a very worthwhile contribution to their local community.”
