A FLIXTON man is staging a mini charity extravaganza for his friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year - and is calling on businesses to donate prizes.
Graham Park, 52, from Bosdin Road West, is hosting dancers, a musical duet, a tribute band - Foreigners Journey, local acoustic artiste Tom Lannon, a magician and even a princess.
He has called the event, taking place on May 25, ‘Dawnfest’ in honour of his friend Dawn Watts, 49, who is currently undergoing treatment.
A singer will give her rendition of ‘It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day’ and there will also be a surprise ‘piece de resistance’ for the event.
Around 140 people will be attending including friend Harry Smith, 51, who will be having a weigh in at 2pm and stands to raise £800 for losing more than two and a half stone,
The money, in addition to money from the planned raffle, will go to Graham’s favourite charity, Dreamflight, which sends severely ill children on holidays to Florida.
Also raising money for the charity is Dawn herself. Along with Graham’s wife, Julie and others she is doing a tandem skydive on May 18, the week before the party.
Party prizes donated so far include a tour of Concorde from British Airways, a signed Manchester United football shirts and family tickets to Chester Zoo.
To donate prizes for the party, please send to Graham’s home address: 9 Bosdin Road West, Flixton.
