A ‘STARSTRUCK’ Sale band had a big break of their own last week as new world snooker champion Mark Selby leapt onstage to join them.

‘Mancini Fires’, made up of lead singer Greg Foster, 32, bass player Stu Leeson, 33, keyboard player and guitarist John Monks, 39 and John Cooper, 30, on drums, were dumbstruck when Mark took over the microphone.

He belted out his versions of Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’, The Monkees ‘I’m A Believer’, REM’s ‘Losing My Religion’ and a finale of Kings of Leon’s ‘Sex On Fire’. The winners’ ball was at the Mercure hotel in Sheffield after Selby defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan 18-14 to claim a first world crown.

Greg said: “We had heard he sang a bit and he was actually quite a good singer. Chasing Cars was really good.”

Admitting his shyness, the frontman said: “I told Mark: you’ve just been playing in front of millions of people and you’re up here with us.

“I can’t believe it.”

As if that wasn’t enough excitement, a world famous drummer then appeared.

Greg said: “Towards the end of the show, someone came over and said the drummer from Iron Maiden, Nico Mc Brain, was in the crowd, can he come up and drum with you and we said yes. “He was a really nice bloke and was saying we’ll have to do this again sometime.

“It was all an incredible experience. We didn’t expect it at all.”
