A LECTURE theatre is to be built at a Partington primary school following approval by Trafford planning chiefs.
Partington Primary School will now build a 334sqm hall, with office and education facilities, on a section of the Central Road site currently occupied by a children’s ‘trim trail’ and a small games cage.
The school contended that the multi-use hall will be used for assemblies, theatre productions and drama and will free up the sports hall from use for non-sporting activities.
One letter of objection was submitted by a resident, which questioned the need to go to the expense of constructing and maintaining the extension and argued more would be gained from using the playing field, rather than increased time spent indoors.
Committee members voted unanimously in favour of the proposal at a planning committee meeting on May 8.
