ALTRINCHAM is getting ready for one big party - and organisers need volunteers to help the event go with a swing.

Last year’s Altrincham Festival attracted thousands of visitors and people are needed to act as marshalls on July 5 - the day of the Grand Parade.

The marshalls will be asked to escort vehicles to the festival showground between 8.30am and noon for the festival parade and all volunteers will be given hot food and drink for their services.

Festival organisers would also like to hear from businesses and charities who are interested in having a stand at the showground on the day and the organisers say the high profile event can give these organisations a major publicity boost.

Space is also available in the craft marquee for an event that will also host a varied and exciting programme of attractions. These include a birds of prey display, marching bands, Ranger Rob’s Animal Experience and the Battling Cumberland Giants.

Future Festival events include live music with a performance by The Kaleidoscope Swing Band and the choir of Stamford Park Junior School on July 10 and The Fantastic Colin Paul on July 18. The ticket price also includes a chicken and chips in a basket meal and the cost is £9.95.
