THIRTY-seven members of the Altrincham & District Rambling Club completed a walk in memory of their friend and fellow walker, Vernon Hill.

The commemorative walk in the Lymm area visited Spud Wood, the Bridgewater Canal tow path, the Transpennine trail, Slitting Gorge and finished at Lymm Dam where a picnic table had been sited in his memory.

The group was joined by other members of the walking club to dedicate a picnic table in Vernon’s memory, at the event on April 16.

The picnic table is situated on the east side of the Dam overlooking the lake, this was a favourite area of Vernon’s, one where he often enjoyed walking with his friends.

The club president, Dean Edwards said a few words about Vernon’s time with the club and his generous gift for the benefit of all club members.

He then dedicated the picnic table to Vernon’s memory and hoped that club members and other walkers would enjoy the table for many years to come.
