JOHN Lewis Trafford is joining in the 150th anniversary celebrations of the business.

It has grown from a humble draper’s shop opened in 1864, to a £4 billion international business.

Kicking off on May 3, the shop at intu Trafford Centre, will host a number of activities and charity initiatives working in partnership with Barnardo's.

Over the three days, there will be live music, children’s entertainment, including face-painting, treasure hunts and design a 150-year birthday card.

There will also be a fashion show and workshop.

One hundred and fifty helium balloons will be released on Saturday morning, in front of the shop, each balloon will have a tag attached to it. The tag will have a number which once taken to customer services will give the holder a prize, which could include gift vouchers worth £15 or £150.
