VANDALS caused ‘havoc’ when they brought down overhead power lines, leaving several Broadheath homes and businesses without power yesterday.
The offenders took down the power lines early on Wednesday afternoon, but did not manage to steal anything.
However, to ensure their engineers could reinstall new electricity poles safely, power operator, Electricity North West, had to switch off 52 customers’ power between 12.30pm and 9pm.
Mark Williamson, operations director for Electricity North West, said: “Not only is this an incredibly dangerous crime and thieves are putting their lives at risk, but it also impacts on residents and businesses.
“We will be working with the police to investigate the incident, but if anyone has any information which could help find the offenders then please do get in touch. It is important that we all work together to put a stop to these crimes.”
If you have any information on this incident or if you notice any suspicious activity, call Electricity North West on 0800 195 4141.
