A TIMPERLEY Village clinic raised £377 with a fundraising day in aid of the Starlight Children’s Ward at Wythenshawe Hospital.

The cash raised by the Village Osteopaths at the event on April 12 will provide interactive and soft play toys and equipment for the play specialists department in the Starlight unit.

Clinic director Sean Bourke said: “A big thank you for everyone who turned out and also to all the businesses who sponsored the event, from the sponsors of our charity banner to those who donated raffle prizes.

“Particular thanks goes to MistyMoo face painting, whose amazing face painting had children dancing for joy and to local bakery’s Pixie Cakes and Diana’s Little Cake Company who provided for the cake sale.

“Finally, a big thank you to our therapists, Carole, Helen and Beth, who worked tirelessly throughout the day giving taster treatments for donations.

“Also to our osteopath Collette and podiatrist Andrew who were on hand to give advice and provide consultations on the day.

“We had a fantastic day and hope that the money can go some way to helping spread fun and joy to those less fortunate children at the Starlight Ward.”

The charity is close to the hearts of the staff at Village Osteopaths’ as principal osteopath Collette Nelstrop’s daughter, Ellie, has type one diabetes and is a frequent visitor to the ward as both an in and outpatient.

Ellie, aged 9, who chose the Starlight Ward as a charity said: “We all had a brilliant day with face painting and learning how to make animal balloons.

“I’m really excited to give the money to the Starlight Ward, I can’t wait!”

Opened in November 2013, the Village Osteopaths, on Stockport Road, is a multi-disciplinary health clinic providing osteopathy, podiatry, nutritional therapy, reflexology and a range of massage.”
