PIRATES, fairies, witches and super heroes celebrated at a picnic and fancy-dress completion to celebrate the official re-opening of the revamped play area in Lostock Park, Curzon Road, Stretford, on April 23.

The £75,000 project was spearheaded by the Friends of Lostock Park with assistance from Trafford Council.

Funding came from the Veolia Environmental Trust who awarded a grant of £49,175 through the Landfill Communities Fund, Trafford Housing Trust’s Urmston Community Panel, who awarded £20,000, and Trafford Council, who awarded £5,000.

The new platground equipment includes timber-roundabouts, swings, slides and areas for imaginary play. .

A small cycle-track has been included to allow children to learn to cycle safely.

Chairman of the Friends of Lostock Park, Maureen Reilly, said, “It is great that this much-needed work is now complete. We would like to thank everyone who got involved and our supporters and funders who helped make it happen.”
