TWO members of staff at St Ann's Hospice have decided to take on the challenge of the Bupa Great Manchester Run, despite never having run before.

Corporate fundraiser Hannah Saunders - from Altrincham - and nurse Emma Norton are aiming to raise £2,000 towards the cost of hospice care, which is provided by the charity in the Greater Manchester community, and at the Neil Cliffe Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital.

The pair have both partnered up with Total Fitness to help get in shape in time for the 10k challenge on Sunday, May 18.

“Working at the hospice, I know just how important it is to raise money to fund the fabulous work of our clinical staff,” said Hannah.

“I thought if I’m asking people to fundraise for St Ann’s, I should lead by example and step up to the plate myself.”

St Ann’s Hospice provides care free of charge to those affected by life limiting illnesses, but needs to raise the equivalent of £16,000 every day.

Anyone wanting to join Emma, from Salford, and Hannah and join up to 40,000 other participants in the Manchester run for St Ann’s Hospice can call 0161 498 3631.
