A TIMPERLEY fundraiser is organising a musical extravaganza in memory of her mum.

Beth White, of Riverbrook Road, is holding the event on Thursday, May 15, at 7pm, at St Anne’s Church in Sale to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s More Tomorrows Campaign.

The event will raise funds for new, state of the art, laboratories for the Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) in Withington.

The 33-year-old said: “May will be the anniversary of when my mum passed away and so I wanted to organise an event which would raise money to help prevent other families from having to lose a loved one from this devastating disease.

“With five families in Manchester affected by cancer every single day, the need for more research has never been greater.

“Mum suffered with cancer for more than 10 years. In April 2013 family members discovered symptoms, after having a brain scan, this led to the devastating news that she had three-brain tumors.

“Mum did not complain and just six weeks later she sadly passed away in the loving arms of my dad whom would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in October that year.

“A month later and my first baby, George was born, and I will ensure that he knows how special she was to all her friends and family. This concert is to help cancer research work towards finding a cure that will be for my son’s generation.”
