ALTRINCHAM-based J Davidson scrap metal processors is supporting the Christie Hospital’s HaTS charity by entering a team into the Marrakech Express Banger Rally.

The rally will see teams racing across Europe and Africa.

The Davidson’s Daredevils, who will set off for the trip on Monday, are made up of Paul Jackson, David Greatbanks, Andrew Tomlinson and Martyn Johnson, will have to drive more than 2000 miles in just five days.

They will begin their journey in Reims, France and from there they will drive to Millau, through the Pyrenees to Andorra, then on to Barcelona, Alicante, Gibraltar, Tangier and finally finishing in Marrakech.

What makes the rally really challenging is that the teams are only allowed to spend just £250 on a car to get them to the finishing line.

The vehicle the J Davidson team has chosen to do this mammoth journey in is a £250 K Reg Volvo 940 Estate.

The team will be averaging around 400 miles a day and will have to complete challenges along the way to win points.

At the end of the rally, the team with the most points will win £1,000 and a trophy.

Always keen to support the local community and local charities, the Davidson’s Daredevils will be raising money for HaTS, which is the dedicated charity for the Haematology and Transplant unit at the Christie Hospital.

The money raised will help towards improving the service provided to patients and carers in the unit, providing financial support to those who find themselves in difficulty, funding Aromatherapy/Complementary therapy services and much, much more.

The Davidson’s Daredevils are looking to raise as much money as possible for the fantastic charity, HaTS.
