TO mark their centenary, the Old Altrinchamians' Association (Old Boys of Altrincham Grammar School) held its anniversary dinner in the Stamford Hall at the school.

Guest of honour at the event on March 21 was Ian Livingstone, video game pioneer, who attended the school in the 1960s. The function attracted an attendance of 121.

The chairman, Colin Bamford, proposed the toasts to the Queen, the School and to the association, and invited Ian Livingstone to speak.

Ian reminisced entertainingly about his school days, screening many archival photographs using a power point presentation.

He paid especial tribute to teacher and deputy head, the late Roy Coleman, for the latter’s key influence on his schooling. The headmaster, Tim Gartside, gave a very positive account of the school’s achievements at the start of its second century.

A raffle was organised by Christian James, ticket sales being efficiently handled by senior pupils. The raffle raised £800.
