DURING the week before Easter, local churches will be coming together to open a ‘pop-up shop’ in Altrincham town centre, in the former Thorntons shop.

The idea has came from the Methodist Church, in Altrincham, and plans are in place for the shop to be open from Saturday, April 12, to Saturday, April 19, from 10am to 2pm each day.

Using the theme of HOPE, passers-by can call in and to see and do a number of things, including viewing an exhibition of photographs called ‘One Day In Time’.

Local people have been encouraged to submit a picture taken one day in time – Tuesday April 1 – that depicts the theme of hope. The pictures will be on display throughout the week.

There will also be an Easter craft activity where all ages can stop by and make crafts to take away.

HOPE bags have been prepared with surprising things inside that speak of HOPE.

Visitors will also be able to use an interactive prayer wall, see videos and images.

There will be a display of the important work done in the local Foodbank and also by Christians Against Poverty. On Easter Saturday, there will be a visit from the ‘No Strings’ Puppet Ministry team.

The idea of the Holy Week pop-up shop is of a Christian presence in the town during the most significant week in the church’s calendar.
