TRAFFORD Council is aiming to help residents with their recycling by providing free compostable liners.

The council is delivering a roll of compostable liners to all properties. Each roll of liners will contain a leaflet reminding residents of the items they can place in their food waste caddies, as well as information on the service in general.

They can use the caddy and liners provided by the Council to store their food waste before placing the full liner in the green bin. Garden waste such as twigs, grass cuttings, flowers and leaves can also be disposed of in the green bin.

Executive Councillor for environment, transport and operations, Alan Mitchell, said: “The council is keen to maximise the amount of food waste collected for recycling. Providing every household with a roll of liners will help us to achieve this. I would like to thank residents for their co-operation.”

Replacement compostable liners are provided free of charge and can be ordered by either tying one of your last liners to the handle of the green bin or online at www.trafford.gov.uk/recycling.
