RESIDENTS in Gorse Hill and Lostock are being invited to play their part in improving their neighbourhood as charity Forever Manchester hosts ‘Idea Works’ events.

The event will take place at Gorse Hill Methodist Church on April 17, with two further events in Lostock planned for June and August.

Residents are being invited to come along to share and explore ideas for new community projects to benefit the neighbourhoods. The charity is also offering awards of up to £250 through its Cash4Graft Awards scheme to help turn residents’ ideas into reality.

The Idea Works sessions are part of the charity’s continued Asset Based Development Approach across Trafford. The approach uses the skills and talents already found in neighbourhoods as the force for positive change. In 2013 Forever Manchester gained national recognition for its work using this approach, winning a National Charity Times award.

Forever Manchester’s Community Builder for Trafford James Hampson said: “If you care about where you live, and have ideas for what you can change about it, or skills that you can offer up to help, then please come along, and tell us about it. Our Idea Works sessions are all about local people coming together over a brew and a few biscuits to understand what they can make happen by working together. “ The Gorse Hill event is on April 17, 6.30pm – 8,30pm at Gorse Hill Methodist Church, Wesley Street, Stretford.
