THIS doodle by Sale-born TV star Karil Pilkngton raised £250 for Epilepsy Action.

Karl was one of many famous names to take part in National Doodle Day.

The Greater Manchester celebrities – also including Colin Baker, John Partridge and Jorgie Porter - put pen to paper for National Doodle Day’s celebrity auction on eBay.

Together they raised £713, not least due to Karl’s’s monkey sketch which raised the highest figure.

Nationally, the 10-day auction, which ended on March 16, featured scribbles by more than 200 stars and raised a total of more th an £9,000 to help people living with epilepsy.

Philippa Cartwright, fundraising events manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support received from celebrities and members of the public alike to celebrate our eleventh National Doodle Day. The money raised is vital in helping us improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy.”

National Doodle Day, supported by Dodo Pad, publishers of the original family ‘doodle’ diary, invites people across the UK to get scribbling until Friday 4 Apri 4l. They are invited to ‘do a doodle, donate a pound’ to help support the 600,000 people across the UK with epilepsy. Anyone entering their works of art into the national competition is in with the chance of winning a prize.

All schools entering the competition will have the opportunity to win £250 of equipment and resource vouchers. Groups and individuals are in with a chance of winning a range of cash prizes. The winner of each category will also receive a custom-made 3D stuffed figure of their doodle design, courtesy of Lucy Moose. All winners will get a certificate and will have their work displayed in the doodle Hall of Fame on the National Doodle Day website.

Individual entries should be drawn on an A5 piece of card and include name, age, telephone number and address on the back. There is a suggested minimum donation of £1 for each entry. To enter the competition, or to find out more, visit www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk.
