STRETFORD and Urmston MP Kate Green is backing a charity appeal to boost job opportunities for disabled people.

Ms Green visited Leonard Cheshire Disability’s pioneering housing development in Eden Square, Urmston, to meet residents and staff.

Ms Green said: “It was great to visit Leonard Cheshire’s supported living scheme in Urmston and chat with some of the tenants about how they’re finding life in their new homes in Eden Square.

“Leonard Cheshire is doing great work to support disabled people locally. However, tenants in Eden Square still face many challenges in getting into employment.

“I will therefore be approaching local businesses to see what opportunities they can provide for Eden Square tenants.”

Service Manager Fiona Quirke said: “We are delighted Kate Green had the opportunity to meet with many tenants at Eden Square and we look forward to welcoming her again in the future.

“Eden Square provides supported living for disabled people in the community and Kate saw first-hand the value of our work to support people to live more independently in their local community.”
